What is a Lead Assessment Specialist?

The Lead Assessment Specialist is responsible for overseeing and supporting the delivery of CP+R’s athlete assessments at the Upper Wimpole Street Centre, London. The role ensures all assessments meet CP+R’s clinical, operational, and cultural standards, maintaining excellence across every aspect of the service.

You will play a key role in developing the annual placement student intake, ensuring quality control, consistency, and continued growth within the assessment and clinical teams.

Shift Pattern:

  1. +  Rotating shifts: 07:30–16:30 or 11:30–20:30

    +  Maintain a 2:1 assessment specialist ratio per session.

    +  Annual leave, TOIL, and sickness cover provided by designated operational staff.

    +  Bank holidays: Centre closed (to be taken as annual leave). Your leave entitlement is pro-rata.

Responsibilities:

  1. 1. Assessment Delivery

+ Conduct full health assessments in line with CP+R standards (including CardioPulmonary Exercise Tests, Isokinetic Dynamotery, Blood tests and Body composition analysis).

+ Produce accurate and comprehensive assessment reports which will be distributed and used by the CP+R team.

+ Ensure punctuality and professionalism in all client interactions, including reception greetings.

+ Maintain hygiene, safety, and risk assessment compliance at all times.

+ Manage weekly stock and equipment checks, ensuring consumables are fully available.

+ Audit assessment quality and provide constructive, recorded feedback to team members using the Assessment Specialist Competency Framework.

+ Play a role in the evolution and development of assessments to maintain their scientific and evidence-based accuracy

2. Operational Oversight

+ Support diary and shift pattern management, including TOIL allocation for weekend work and leave requests of the assessment team.

+ Manage and resolve contract-related athlete queries in collaboration with the Experience Management team at CP+R.

+ Complete environmental and operational audits aligned to organisational policies.

3. Team Leadership

+ Conduct weekly 1:1 meetings with team members, providing feedback, coaching, and progress updates to the Chief Operating Officer at CP+R.

+ Present the assessment team and your own KPIs during your 4 Weekly 1:1’s and quarterly reports.

+ Support training and onboarding of new assessment team members (June/July annually).

+ Foster a positive, accountable, and values-driven team culture.

4. Collaboration 

+ Coordinate operations between the Bath Assessment Centre and the central team.

+ Liaise with external stakeholders about equipment malfunction and maintenance when required.

+ Work in collaboration with the Head of Clinical to deliver optimal and up-to-date health assessment processes and protocols.

+ Manage weekly education meetings with Head of Clinical or Education Lead

Requirements:

2:1 or above predicted or acquired BSc grade in relevant degree (e.g. Sport & Exercise Science)

Proven experience of physiological testing in a health-related or exercise capacity

Proven experience in a customer service role

Proven experience or interest in rehabilitation or helping people

+ AHCS Clinical Exercise Physiologist Accreditation (desirable but not essential)
